In Her Own Words

About her

This little white box holding my Profile is a lonely place to be. After meeting so many people in my life, it seems a strange question to ask why someone should get to know me!

However - you might like to get to know me if:-

You enjoy being the first to leave footprints in new laid snow. The sight of a hare running across a field can bring tears to your eyes - and you don't want to shoot it! Some 18yr olds seem scarily old to you. You'd like to have chickens and goats in the garden. You aren't a perfectionist. You appreciate the sound of silence (and the Simon & Garfunkel version of it). You like fruit wine and home made chutney. You'll walk round the next corner, just to see what's there. You don't drive everywhere. You enjoy inane chat and lots of real belly laughs. You're honest. You find filling in these questionnaires extremely difficult.

If you 'tick' some of the above boxes, then we'd have a lot of similarities to share, the one's you don't tick are interesting, because they're the ones that will bring on the conversation!

I've been described either as an aging hippy or a Joanna Lumley look-alikie - I don't mind either! I spent a lot of years living 'the Good Life' (which aint all it's cracked up to be - 'eat your cabbage heart out Felicity Kendal') and my wish is to return to a simple lifestyle - not that life at the moment is hard but a couple of hens and some silence wouldn't go amiss. I enjoy music and go to a live music session every week (probably more fun than going to a dead one!) I'm particularly fond of (Irish) fiddle music - this balanced with a sprinkling of Beethovan would be the bees-knees.
Like a lot of others that have arrived here, I've been hurt in the past but feel recovered enough now to dip my toe back into the pool of life. I've lived on my own for a few years but do miss the company of having someone else around. So, that's some of the reasons I think people should get to know me - and I hope you'll maybe come up with a few other things I haven't thought of.

About her ideal match

This is a tricky one. After spending hours formulating the 'why you should get to know me' bit, it would somehow follow that my 'ideal match' (Is there really such a person?) would mirror some of the points I listed - not all maybe, but enough to believe that we'd have some ground ideals/beliefs in common - without becoming like Tweedledee & Tweedledum, in matching outfits!

I envisage the elusive Mr Ideal Match as being a kind soul, with a laugh always at the ready (sometimes at themselves) and not to take life too seriously. Of course, in any friendship there will be times when laughter's not the answer, when a damp proof shoulder and words of comfort are more appropriate. Mr Ideal Match does not always have to be 'The Winner' - I believe there's a certain strength in losing and not minding. Mr. Ideal Match doesn't grow old gracefully and he likes women in red dresses and purple hats who are sometimes a bit scatty. He likes animals (I have a border collie). He will stand up for what he believes in. He enjoys fierce wild places (apart from night clubs) and rather likes lying on his back in the middle of a field looking up at the stars (but he doesn't have to if it's blowing a gale!). He enjoys Winnie-the-Pooh and Kafka and appreciates Pre-Raphaelite art. He likes the feel and look of dark green velvet, and he's capable of lighting a coal/wood fire and candles in the dark nights...
If there's anyone out there in SagaLand who fits into any of the above, why not be Very Brave and drop me a line......
