About him
I’ve had an unusual, unconventional life that started with me questioning everything in my early twenties. In particular beliefs and not just the obvious one like religion but also the subtle, easily invisible cultural beliefs.
It has had its adventurous side too, which involved travelling overland to India when I was 25 and by some quirk of fate then living abroad for 12 years in three different countries before moving back to England.
This was just the beginning and it has continued from there and becoming unconventional where it really counts, which is in an inner way. This has led me to realise now that all I really want is love in my life (duh!!) but for that to really really work out it is quite a challenge. Isn't it? Hence there are so many of us middle aged single people on these dating sites.
A deeper kind of love in my view involves a real ongoing honesty and openness and humility and responsibility for one’s feelings and one’s protection mechanisms. At the ripe age of 71 I am finally up for that!! God knows it's difficult to stay young at heart as we get older where the tendency is to close down, become sentimental and stuck in our ways.
On the worldly side I'm quite sporty and like to be active and taken up table tennis again. I also love to dance have done Leroc/Ceroc for a few years. (Unfortunately interrupted by Covid). I like to go on walks with a pub lunch along the way, cook, listen to music and watch films.
I work part time on my two small time self employed businesses from home.
I love animals. My grandfather was a Mendip farmer and spent many a happy morning in the milking shed during the summer holidays. Also had riding lessons for 4 years as a kid. I rode that magnificent Palomino stallion when couch surfing in the South of France a couple of years ago.
I have a very irreverent sense of humour that comes from seeing the folly of what is happening in the world and not taking any of it seriously. So humour and teasing and having a laugh are also very important.

I'm looking for a woman who wants an honest, authentic, open, generous, Intelligent way of relating. One where we put each other first ahead of other relationships but not in a stifling kind of way. But because we love to be together and recognise that it is only in this 'one' love that real fulfilment can be found. A sincere woman who is open to exploring all aspects of relating and what so easily gets in the way of being simple, sweet and playful together so we can keep our relating fresh and new. I think love has to be re-created all the time, every day.
BUT and a very important one based on my experience. For the relationship to really work both of us need to be at ease in being alone. We need to be comfortable in our own skin and not be looking to each other for fulfilment. We can however help each other with this aspect of our relating and that is very important.
