About him
It's really nice to be retired early, even though I liked my job in the scientific community. Now looking to enjoy the rest of my years visiting interesting places round the UK using trains and bicycle (also just messing about and taking it easy sometimes). I've recently bought a new (to me) house which requires decorating and gardening. A friend with whom to share mutual interests, some of which could be new to me, would be the icing on my cake. I'm a quiet sort of chap, quite practical, maybe with hidden depths, but also realistic about life and not prone to unrealistic beliefs (I'm an atheist and don't believe in homeopathy for example). I think I'm also quite whimsical, but sometimes, if things come to fruition, that makes it OK. Do you have a desire to see if we could get on? After all, that may be the most important thing about meeting someone with a view to the future, don't you think?.
About his ideal match
The notion of an ideal match is a bit fanciful, as often people can be a surprise in a good or bad way. Suffice it to say I would like to meet someone level-headed and I don't think that physical attributes are particularly important in a match. I think the person should have their own interests to pursue so that as a couple we could have a life together, but also still be individuals.
If you would like to go and sit on a beach and have an ice-cream one day and do some gardening the next, and then perhaps visit an ancient monument, maybe we could get on.
